CNA Rehabilitation Nursing Certification
The Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) offers certification in 17 nursing specialties. Specialty certification is a voluntary program that allows registered nurses to build on the solid foundation of their Canadian RN registration and the clinical experience they gain in their specialty.
The certification credential is an important indicator to patients, employers, the public and professional licensing bodies that the certified nurse is qualified, competent and current in a nursing specialty. Certified nurses have met rigorous requirements to achieve this expert credential.
The purpose of certification is threefold:
- To promote excellence in nursing care for the people of Canada through the establishment of national standards of practice in nursing specialty areas;
- To provide an opportunity for practitioners to confirm their competence in a specialty; and
- To identify through a recognized credential, those nurses meeting the national standards of their specialty.
